Neuromodulators

Probably the most commonly used neuromodulator in North America and Europe today, Dysport is a local muscle relaxant (or neuromuscular blocking agent) adapted from the botulinum neuromodulator type-A and is used in both aesthetic and therapeutic indications.

Dysport is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with procerus and corrugator muscle activity in adult patients less than 65 years of age.

We find that it works best in patients with particularly strong muscle activity or those who are looking for a longer-lasting effect.

One of the newest and most recently developed neuromulators, Nuceiva was released in 2019 and has been very successful. This is because it’s fast acting, with patients seeing results within 3 - 5 days from our clinical experience, and because of its minimal spread, meaning less risk of complications from product migration.

Nuceiva is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines in adult patients under 65 years of age with limited data in patients older than 65 years of age.

It is a great product for “botox naive” patients who have never had neuromodulation treatment before or for people who don’t want that “frozen look”.

Perhaps the most famous of them all, Botox Cosmetic has been around and proven since 2002. It has been proven to give predictable and effective results for over 20 years. It is also the only FDA-approved neuromodulator to treat the following areas:

- Moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with corrugator and/or procerus muscle activity
- Moderate to severe lateral canthal lines associated with orbicularis oculi activity
- Moderate to severe forehead lines associated with frontalis activity
